Coverson-Springs, Knuckles Post Nationally Ranked Marks at Johnson C. Smith Collegiate Invitational

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Claflin University women's track & field team continue to show why they are among the top teams in the nation with some terrific performances at the 2026 Johnson C. Smith Collegiate Invitational, Friday.
 
After finishing ranked second in the nation at the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet in the women's 60m hurdles, Claflin sophomore Morgan Coverson-Springs kept things up by posting the second-best time in the nation in the women's 400m hurdles at the meet. She ran a 58.78 to win the women's 400m hurdles at the meet and she claimed the third best time in the nation. She also won the women's 100m hurdles with a 13.81, which is another top-10 national time. She wasn't the only Lady Panther to claim an event win at the meet. Claflin sophomore Latrice Brown won the women's 100m dash with an 11.75.
 
The Lady Panthers also dominated the field events as well. Junior Jhnyia Knuckles won the women's triple jump with a 12.68m mark, the third best in the nation. She also won the women's long jump with a 5.53m mark. Junior Zhaire Mack won the women's high jump with a 1.57m mark as well.
 
The Claflin women's outdoor track & field team will be back in action next weekend when they head to Knoxville, Tennessee to compete in the Tennessee Invite.
