Claflin Athletics Celebrates a 3.34 Department Grade-Point Average (GPA)
ORANGEBURG, SC - While the Claflin University student-athletes are known for their terrific athletic performances, academic excellence has always been a hallmark of the university and they did not disappoint during the 2025-26 academic year. With 148 total student-athletes, the Claflin University Department of Athletics recorded a 3.34 cumulative grade-point average for the 2025-26 academic year. The GPA is higher than last year's 3.31 cumulative GPA.
While the performance represented some great efforts by all the student-athletes, there were several standout efforts. Of the 148 student-athletes, 108 earned 3.0 or higher GPAs for the academic year. Among them were 11 student-athletes who earned perfect 4.0 GPAs while there were 49 student-athletes who earned 3.5 - 3.8 GPAs while 41 student-athletes earned 3.1 - 3.49 GPAs.
Seven Claflin University teams recorded 3.0 or higher GPAs. The Lady Panthers basketball team led the way when the team recorded a 3.50 team GPA. The Lady Panthers softball team was a close second with a 3.46 cumulative GPA and the Lady Panthers volleyball team recorded a 3.40 GPA. The Panthers basketball team had the highest GPA among the male sports with a 3.34 GPA while the Panthers baseball team recorded a 3.32 GPA.
