Coverson-Springs Named USTFCCCA Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Claflin University sophomore Morgan Coverson-Springs was named the 2026 United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year, Monday afternoon. The honor came after the Aiken, South Carolina native completed a terrific outdoor track & field season and it marked the second regional athlete of the year honor for Coverson-Springs.
 
The honor is another in a terrific season for Coverson-Springs. In addition to being named the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year, she also earned a pair of USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-American honors after placing 12th in the women's 400m hurdles and fifth in the women's 100m hurdles at the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. She earned first team All-American honors in the women's 100m hurdles and she was a second-team All-American in the women's 400m hurdles. Coverson-Springs also finished the 2026 season leading the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region in both events.
 
Earning the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Region Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year completes a sweep as she also earned the 2026 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Women's Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
