Claflin Falls to North Georgia, 70-75, at UWF Thanksgiving Classic

Pensacola, Fla.—The Claflin University men's basketball team had four players to score in double-figures but that wasn't enough as they fell to University of North Georgia, 70-75, in its final game of the University of West Florida (UWF) Thanksgiving Tournament.  With the loss, the Panthers fall to 2-3 on the season.
 
Claflin was led by Patrell Rogers who came off the bench to score 16 points, including a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.  Carlton Johnson scored 15 and Arthur Talley recorded a double-double, 13 points-10 rebounds, for the Panthers, who out-rebounded North Georgia, 33-31.  Kendall Jackson rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points for Claflin in the loss.
 
Corey Green led four Nighthawk players in double-figures with 17.  Ebo Smith and Travis Core scored 12 each while Sean Brennan added 10 points in the win.  Shaquan Cantrell scored eight points with a team-high six rebounds for the Nighthawks who improved to 5-1 on the season.
 
The Panthers will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 2 when they host Elizabeth City State in non-conference game.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Tullis Arena on the campus of Claflin University.
 
Game Notes: Claflin connected on 15-of-18 free-throws (83.3%)…North Georgia led at the half by four, 28-32.
