Claflin Baseball Falls to Albany State in Final Game of SIAC Weekend Series

Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University baseball team fell to Albany State, 10-3, in the final game of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) weekend series.  With the loss the Panthers fell to 5-10 overall and 2-4 in the SIAC.

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning, than Albany State took control of the game.  The Golden Rams put up one run in the second and three runs in the fourth to go ahead 6-2.  The Panthers put up one run in the seventh inning to cut the deficit to three, 6-3.  Albany State put up one run in the eighth and three runs in the ninth while holding Claflin scoreless over the last two innings en route to the 10-3 victory.

Justin Vreeland was the loser of the contest while Jonatan Galan picked up the win for Albany State.

Claflin will look to rebound from the weekend series this Tuesday, March 11, when they host Coker College at 5 p.m.  The Panthers will host St. Augustine's in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday.  First pitch for Wednesday's contest is set for a 3 p.m. start.  Both home games will be played at Historic Mirmow Field.
