Claflin University Men’s Basketball Claflin Panthers Wins Second Straight with win over Clark Atlanta

Orangeburg, S.C.--Arthur Talley scored 13 of his team-high 19 points in the second half as Claflin University rallied to defeat Clark-Atlanta, 72-67, in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) men's basketball contest Thursday night at the Tullis Arena.  With the win, Claflin improved its season record 8-9 overall and 5-3 in the SIAC. Clark-Atlanta fell to 3-12 overall and 2-6 in the conference. 

Claflin had well-balanced scoring as it finished with three players in double-figures.  Ryan McNeill-Moses and Fare'al Walker had 11 each for the Panthers in the win.  Walker recorded a double-double pulling in a game-high 10 rebounds.  Talley finished just two rebounds shy of a double-double with eight. 

Clark Atlanta was led by Derek Harper with a game-high 21 points while Najee Whitehead finished with 20.  Joseph Hughes scored 11 and Earl Lawrence led Clark Atlanta in rebounding with six. 

Claflin will host Morehouse College on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3:30 p.m. before hitting the road to face Albany State University next Monday, Jan. 26.
