Claflin Fall to Eckerd in Men’s Basketball Thanksgiving Tournament

St. Petersburg, Fla.—The Claflin University men's basketball team fell to Eckerd College by nine, 71-62, in final game of the Eckerd Thanksgiving Tournament.  The loss, Claflin's third straight, drops the Panthers to 2-3 on the season.
 
For the third straight game, Patrell Rogers led Claflin in scoring.  Rogers dropped in a game-high 24 points, which is also is third straight 20-plus point performance.  Karee Watson came off the bench to score 10 points while Elijah Bradley led the team in rebounding with seven.  Adolph Caldwell contributed eight points for the Panthers who shot 41.8 percent from the field.
 
Claflin trailed by nine at the half, 28-37.
 
Eckerd (6-1) had three players to score in double-figures led by Kevin Walsh with 15.  E.J. Moody scored 14 while Jerrick Stevenson contributed to 13 in the contest.  Obi Kyei pulled in eight rebounds to lead the Tritons in the win.  As a team, Eckerd shot 42.6 from the field.
 
The Panthers will continue its six-game road swing next Thursday, Dec. 3 when they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to face Lane College.  The Panthers will then face Kentucky State in Frankfort, Ky. next Saturday, (Dec. 5) and will end the road trip on Monday (Dec. 7) at Central State in Wilberforce, Ohio.
