Claflin Baseball Falls to Armstrong State

Savannah, Ga. – The Claflin University baseball team dropped its second straight road contest, falling to Armstrong State, 10-14, in Savannah, Ga.  With the loss the Panthers fall to 8-18 overall.  The Pirates improves to 19-5.
 
Jabari Brown led Claflin offensively, going 4-for-6 with three runs and one RBI.  Sixto Guerrero continued to play solid for the Panthers as he went 2-for-4 with two runs, including a homerun, with two RBI's.  Jesse Minter went 3-for-4 with one run and three RBI's and Jalen Thompson went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI in the loss.  Wendell Ferguson was the losing pitcher for the Panthers in the contest.
 
Tyler Avera went 2-for-4 with three runs and JT Phillips went 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBI's to lead Armstrong State in the victory.  Ryan Good picked up the win for the Pirates.
 
Claflin will return to Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, March 21-22, when they host Morehouse College in a three-game series.  First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is set for 12 noon while Sunday's single game is set for 1 p.m. at Historic Mirmow Field in Orangeburg, S.C.
