Claflin Baseball Falls to Coker in a Non-Conference Game

Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University baseball team fell to Coker, 8-20, in a non-conference baseball game at Historic Mirmow Field in Orangeburg.  With the loss, the Panthers fall to 14-21 overall.  The Cobras improves to 11-20 on the season.
 
Coker put up nine runs in the top of the first to set the tone for the game.  The Cobras put up one run in the 2nd, seven in the third and one in each of the fourth and fifth to take a 19-0 advantage. The Cobras put up one additional run in the top of the ninth inning for its 20th run of the game.
 
Claflin offense came to life in the bottom of the seventh inning as the placed 4 runs on the board.  The Panthers scored three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth for their eight runs.  Jabari Brown and McKinley Leverette paced the Panthers with two runs.
 
The Panthers will return to conference play this weekend, when they travel to Augusta, Ga. to take on the Lions of Paine College.
