Norman Pitches No-Hit Shut-Out in Win Over Fort Valley State

Orangeburg, S.C.—Tiaria Norman allowed just two walks with no hits and with no runs as the Claflin University softball team defeated Fort Valley State, 23-0, in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) contest in Orangeburg.  The win pushes the Lady Panthers record to 22-17 overall and 10-2 in the SIAC.
 
Fort Valley Falls to 2-22 overall and 2-12 in the SIAC.
 
Norman went five innings and recorded 11 strikeouts against 17 batters faced in the victory.  Norman was equally as effective at bat as she went one-for-three with one run and two RBI's.
 
In addition to the exceptional play by Norman, Claflin collectively had 18 hits with 18 RBI's and three homeruns in the contest.
 
Jasmine Squirewell and Courtney Burns had three and four runs, respectively, in the contest. Chelise Morman, Shaquailla German and Chelsea Hall recorded two runs each on the day.
 
The two teams will close out the three-game series tomorrow with a double-header beginning at 1 p.m. at the Adden Street Field.
