Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University softball team defeated Fort Valley State University in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic (SIAC) doubleheader, winning Game One 20-7 and winning by forfeit 7-0 in Game Two.
The wins push the Lady Panthers into first place in the SIAC East Division at 12-3 and an overall record of 23-18.
LaKaylin Lee went 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI's to pace Claflin in Game One.
Courtney Burns went 2-for-2 with three runs, including a homerun with four RBI's while
Amaris Gilchrease also scored three runs in the win.
Nyesha Arnold was credited with the win in Game One.
Collectively, the Lady Panthers recorded 14 hits with 15 RBI's.
Claflin will host Clark Atlanta in their final home series this Friday-Saturday, Apr. 8-9. First pitch for Friday's single game is set for 5 p.m. while Saturday's doubleheader will have a 2 p.m. first pitch. Saturday doubleheader is designated as senior day for the Lady Panthers.
