Lady Panthers Fall to UAH on the Road

Huntsville, Ala. -- The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) outscored the Claflin University Lady Panthers, 23-14, in the third quarter en route to a 59-47 win Saturday.
 
The loss snapped a three-game Claflin win streak, knotting the Lady Panthers season record to 5-5.
 
UAH improved its season record 6-2.
 
Joy Okeke led three double-figure scorers for the Lady Panthers with 12 points. Deja Dickens and Dominique Williams scored 11 and 10 points, respectively for Claflin.
 
Ashley Fields was the top rebounder for the Lady Panthers with seven, while Jhanice Stokes had three blocked shots.
 
UAH was led by Ayn Sanders with 14 points followed Chandler Elder at 13 points.
 
Claflin trailed by three points at 26-23 heading into the third quarter. UAH increased its lead to 49-37 by the end of the quarter.
 
In the fourth quarter, both teams scored 10 points each for the final score.
 
Claflin outscored UAH in the first quarter, 11-10.  Okeke scored five of the 11 in the period.
 
The Chargers outscored the Lady Panthers by four, 16-12, in the second period, giving UAH the three point lead at the half, 26-23.
 
Claflin will continue its two-game road swing in Alabama, taking on the University of Montevallo on Monday (Dec. 11).
