Claflin Closeout 2017 SIAC Crossover with Win over Tuskegee

Chelsea Hall Named to the All-Tournament Team

Jasper, Ala. (March 18) – The Claflin University softball team scored eight runs in the seventh inning en route to defeating Tuskegee University, 17-3, in its final game of the 2017 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) crossover tournament at Memorial Park in Jasper, Ala.
 
The Lady Panthers, (14-13, 5-2 SIAC), first game of the final day with LeMoyne-Owen was cancelled due to unplayable field conditions earlier in the day.

Senior Chelsea Hall was selected for the all-tournament team.
 
Claflin outhit Tuskegee 13-3 and recorded a season-high 14 RBIs.
 
LaKaylin Lee paced the Lady Panthers going four-for-five with two runs and five RBIs.
 
Kayla Cato and Tiaria Norman had two runs and two hits apiece. Cato also had two RBIs in the win.
 
Norman was the winning pitcher in the contest while Jasmine Snyder was the losing pitcher of record.
 
Tuskegee, who fell to 1-20, 1-7 in the SIAC, got runs from Tamia O'Neal, Shakayia Wilson, and Jasmine Howard.
 
Claflin will host former SIAC opponent Stillman College in a mid-week non-conference contest, Wednesday, March 22.  First pitch is set for the double-header is set for 4 p.m. at the Adden Street Field.
