Claflin Drops a Non-Conference Baseball Doubleheader to Coker

Orangeburg, S.C.--Coker College defeated Claflin University (16-4, 12-4) in an NCAA Division II non-conference baseball doubleheader Wednesday at Mirmow Field.
 
The defeats drops Claflin to 8-21 on the season, while Coker improves to 18-11.
 
In the first game, Coker scored 13 runs in the first three innings en route to the victory.
 
The Cobras also banged out 14 hits in the game.
 
Thomas Lopez, Darius Coldiron and Scott Burnley drove in three runs each to lead
Coker.
 
The only bright spot for Claflin came off the bat of Lyndale Morley, who drilled a three-run homer in the sixth inning. He also drove in the Panthers other run in the first inning.
 
Darrell Langston had two hits for the Panthers.
 
Brady Shuey, 2-0, was the winning pitcher for Coker, while Christian Buford, 0-2, took the loss for Claflin.
 
The second game saw Coker used a 10-run fourth-inning in defeating Claflin.
 
Bryson Conner and Lopez had two RBIs to lead Coker.
 
Johnny Stevenson belted a solo home run to lead the Panthers. Morley had a hit and a RBI for Claflin, while Rashad Bivens and Langston contrived a pair of hits for the Panthers.
 
Jake Moore, 1-0, picked up the win for Coker.
 
Eric Dubose, 1-5, suffered the loss for Claflin.
 
The Panthers will return action this weekend, traveling to Paine College for a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) three-game series. The two teams will meet in a doubleheader Saturday (April 1), followed by a single game on Sunday (April 2).
