Claflin Sweeps Paine in a SIAC Softball Triple-Header

Orangeburg, S.C. – The Claflin University softball team had no problems offensively or defensively en route to sweeping Paine College, 21-3, 19-0, and 21-1, in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) triple-header.  All three games ended in five innings.
 
Claflin has won its last 10 of 11 outings and improve to 27-15 overall and 16-2 in the SIAC.

Paine drops to 2-22 overall and 0-20 in the SIAC.
 
The Lady Panthers outhit the Lady Lions 54-3 and allowed just nine base runners over the three games.
 
Freshman Erica Davis and sophomore Shaquailla German both finished the series with three homeruns.
 
Davis hit two homeruns in game one and one in game two, while German hit one homerun in game two and two in game three.
 
The Lady Panthers finished the series with 10 homeruns as Tiaria Norman, LaKaylin Lee, Chelise Morman and Kayla Cato all hit one out of the park.
 
Sebrina Arnold was the only Paine player to cross the plate twice.  The Lady Lions got one run each from Ashandria Henry and Janae Dotson.
 
Norman was with the winning pitcher in game one, pitching a five inning no-hitter with three runs, one earned with 11 strikeouts.
 
Nyesha Arnold recorded a one hit shutout en route to winning game two and German was the winner of game three.
 
Henry was the loser of games one and three while Dotson was credited with the game two loss.
 
Claflin will return to action next Friday, April 21, when they travel to Central, S.C. to take on Southern Wesleyan in a non-conference doubleheader.
