Claflin Split Non-conference Softball Doubleheader with Southern Wesleyan

Central, S.C. --  The Claflin University softball team had a combined 16 hits with four runs and four RBIs as they split a non-conference doubleheader with Southern Wesleyan Friday (Apr. 21) in Central, S.C.
 
The Lady Panthers defeated Southern Wesleyan 2-1 in game one and fell 6-2 in game two.
 
Sophomore Kayla Cato paced Claflin (28-16) with three runs with three hits, including a two-run homer in game one, and two RBIs.
 
Sophomore Shaquailla German had four hits with an RBI and junior Tiaria Norman had two hits in game one for the Lady Panthers.
 
Southern Wesleyan (9-35) was led by Sara Swett who combined for three runs off two hits and three walks across the doubleheader.
 
Maddie Ward finished the day with three hits, one run and two RBIs.
 
Norman picked up the game one win while German was credited with the game two loss for Claflin.
 
Lucy Wolff was the loser of game one for Southern Wesleyan while Hunter Hoskie was the winner of game two.
 
The Lady Panthers will play their final non-conference regular season doubleheader next Wednesday, Apr. 26, when they travel to Carrollton, Ga. to face the University of West Georgia.  First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
