Claflin Softball Wins Opening Game of SIAC Series with Benedict

Columbia, SC— Tiaria Norman allowed just one hit with 15 strikeouts as Claflin defeated Benedict 5-1 in the opening game of Its Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Series with Benedict.

The three-game series conclude tomorrow, Sunday, Apr. 22, with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

With the win, Claflin improves to 22-5 overall and 12-5 in the SIAC.  Benedict falls to 22-11 overall and 8-7 in the SIAC.

Freshman Jada Ames led the Lady Panthers at the plate, going 1-2 including a double with two walks and a run.  

Deandra Ealey, Mercedes Howze, Karla Robinson and Jameelah Thomas scored one run each for Claflin in the win.

Brianna Billie scored Benedict's lone run and Taylor Roberts was the losing pitcher of record.
