Lady Panthers Pickup Fourth Straight with win Over Livingstone

Salisbury, NC –  Graduate guard Ashley Fields came off the bench to record a double-double, 15 points-12 rebounds, as the Claflin Lady Panthers picked up their fourth straight win, defeating Livingstone College, 66-59, in a Central Collegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) southern division matchup in New Trent Gym on the campus of Livingstone College.
 
The win pushes Claflin record to 11-8 overall, 8-5 in the CIAA but more importantly, 5-2 in the southern division.
 
Fields, who picked up her third double-figure scoring game, had two assists and four steals in the game.
 
The Lady Panthers finished the game with four players in double-figures.  Shakarri Mack scored a game-high 16 points with eight rebounds, while Daisha Jackson and Dionna Long dropped in 11 and 14, respectively.
 
Deja Dickens finished the game with eight points and Mack pulled in eight rebounds for the Lady Panthers, who shot 63.3 percent from the free-throw line.
 
Livingstone was led by Daisa Harris with a game-high 25 points and Kyala Searcy pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds in the loss.
 
The Blue Bears, who dropped their 11th straight, falls to 3-14 overall, 0-7 in the CIAA and 0-1 in the southern division.
 
The second half of the contest saw Livingstone open with a 7-3 run to push its one-point half-time lead to a six-point lead, 36-30, with 8:26 showing on the clock. Ashley fields scored the next four points for the Lady Panthers to cut the deficit to two, 36-34.
 
The Blue Bears managed to push its lead to 10, 44-34, but Claflin remained poised, closing the quarter on a 15-5 run to tie the game at 49-all heading into the final stanza.
 
Livingstone scored the first four points of the fourth quarter to take a 53-49 advantage but a free-throw by Dickens followed by a layup by Mack pulled the Lady Panthers within one, 53-52.
 
After a 54-54 tie at the 3:41 mark, Dickens connected on 1-of-2 free-throws to put Claflin back up by one. 

The Blue Bears regained the lead the 56-55 lead, but it was short-lived as Jackson knocked in two free-throws to give the Lady Panthers the lead for good (57-56).
 
Claflin pushed its lead to 59-56 off a free-throw by Mack, but two free-throws by Livingstone reduced the deficit to one, 59-58.
