Claflin Sweeps Barton in Softball Double Header

Orangeburg, S.C. (2-23-19) – The Claflin University softball team had a total of 14 hits and 21 runs as the Lady Panthers swept Barton College, 13-2 and 8-0, in a non-conference double header Saturday (Feb. 23) at Adden Street Field.
 
The two-game sweep snapped a seven-game losing streak for Claflin pushing their season record to 7-10 overall.
 
Barton dropped to 2-10 on the season.
 
Senior LaKaylin Lee was effective at the plate all day, finishing the double header with 5-for-6, including a double and two triples, with four runs, in leading Claflin.
 
Freshman Angel Johnson 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs in game one while freshman Kadasia Damon went 2-for-2 with three runs in game two for the Lady Panthers
 
Jordan Blake and Hanna Jones were the only two plays to cross the plate for Barton.
 
Claflin will look to keep its win streak alive on Monday, Feb. 25, when they host USC Aiken in a non-conference doubleheader.  First pitch for the game one is set for 1 p.m. with the second game starting about 20 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
