ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin University Department of Athletics Hosted the Boots & Blazers Brunch on Saturday morning as a part of the 2
nd Annual PAWSUp HBCU Basketball Classic. The event took the time to honor three spectacular women for their impact on everyone around them.
The event was held in honor of Orangeburg City Council member and Claflin graduate Mrs. Liz Zimmerman-Keitt, entrepreneur and the wife of the late Bobby Phills, Kendall Phills, and Mrs. Pearl Brownlee, the wife of the legendary coach Nelson Brownlee.
The event, which was held at the Orangeburg County Conference Center, was a terrific affair that was well attended and was hosted by Mrs. Lakisha Warmack, first lady of Claflin University, and Bonnie O'Neal, the wife of Claflin University Director of Athletics Tony O'Neal.
In addition to hearing from the dynamic honorees, the event featured a host of guests. Among the guests at the event were representatives of the City of Orangeburg as well as members of the legendary 1990-92 Claflin Pantherettes basketball teams. One highlight of the event was a donation to the Claflin University Athletics Department from the Canty Foundation.
