ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Panthers (8-6, 5-1 CIAA) clicked on all cylinders when the team claimed a 90-78 win over the Livingstone Blue Bears (7-9, 3-4 CIAA), Wednesday. After playing to a hard-fought 35-35 tie, the Panthers put on a show with a big second half run that sealed the win.
The Panthers took the win behind another balanced team effort. Four Claflin players reached double-digit scoring in the game with junior forward
Zion Obanla leading the way with a near double-double 25 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard
Bryson Dennis pulled off the double-double with 17 points and a career-high 10 assists. Junior guard
John Whitehead, III, added 13 points with six rebounds while senior guard
DaiJohn Stewart came off the bench for 12 points.
With the win, the Panthers improved to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play and a 1-0 in CIAA Southern Division play. The Panthers will return to action, Saturday, when they host the Winston-Salem State Rams in a 4:00 p.m. game.
