ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Panthers (10-6, 7-2 CIAA) picked up their most dramatic win of the season when the team took a 74-72 win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (10-8, 5-6 CIAA). With the score tied at 72-72 in the final seconds of the game, Panther junior forward
Zion Obanla hit a lay-up with four seconds left to play to seal the win.
The win came after a hard-fought game between the two teams. Claflin junior forward
John Whitehead, III, led the way for the team with a team-high 25 points in the game, including hitting seven three-pointers. Obanla had another terrific performance with a double-double 18 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard
Bryson Dennis added seven assists with nine points and three steals in the game.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 10-6 overall and 7-2 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action, Wednesday, when they head to Fayetteville, North Carolina to take on the Fayetteville State Broncos.
