ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (1-5, 1-2 CIAA) gave it their all, but the team was not up to the task in a three-set loss to the reigning CIAA champion Shaw Lady Bears (9-2, 4-0 CIAA), Tuesday evening. The Lady Panthers were aggressive in their offensive attack, but the team was stifled by the Shaw defense in the 16-25, 18-25, and 14-25 loss.
The Lady Panthers gave a great effort with 74 total attacks in the match. However, the team was held to just 16 kills in the match.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in CIAA play. The team will return to action this weekend when they head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to take part in the CIAA Volleyball Round Up. The team will first face the Elizabeth City State Vikings.
