BOWIE, MD - The Claflin Panthers (5-4, 2-0 CIAA) continued their hot streak with an 80-58 win over the Bowie State Bulldogs (6-5, 0-1 CIAA). The win was the third straight for the Panthers and kept the team a perfect 2-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play.
The win came behind a balanced and efficient offensive attack by the Panthers. Claflin senior guard
Michael Shuler led the way when he scored a career-high 18 points with two steals in the game. Senior guard
Gregory Spurlock added 14 points with five rebounds. Senior forward
Zion Obanla nearly pulled off a double-double when he returned to action with 10 points and nine rebounds in the game.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in CIAA play. The team will return to action, Monday, when they head to Pennsylvania to take on the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions.
