ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Panthers (1-24) got a great start and staged a furious rally, but the effort was not enough as the team took an 11-9 loss to the Voorhees Tigers, Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers were able to score nine runs along with some solid hitting, but the team's four fielding errors proved too costly for the Panthers in the loss.
As a team, the Panthers played a solid game. The team needed just seven hits to score nine runs in the game. Claflin junior outfielder
Micah Shivers led the way for the team with a two-for-four with two runs batted in (RBI) in the game. Senior outfielder
Kobe Miller added a double with two runs scored. Junior short stop
Kimon Quarles added a pair of RBI as well.
Claflin graduate
Michael Bailey (0-1) took the pitching loss. He got the start and threw two and two-thirds innings. He finished the game with a strikeout and just four earned runs allowed.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 1-24. The team will return to action this weekend when they head to Americus, Georgia to take on the Georgia Southwestern Hurricane.
