Lady Panthers Advance to CIAA Championship Round with an 8-1 Win Over Virginia State

HENRICO, VA - For the third straight season, the Claflin Lady Panthers (19-21) will advance to the championship round of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Tournament. The team took a dominating 8-1 win over the Virginia State Trojans () to claim their spot in the championship round.
 
The Lady Panthers controlled every aspect of the game to claim the victory. The team finished the game with 10 total hits and one fielding error while holding the Trojans to just one run on three hits and forcing five fielding errors. Claflin freshman second base Jeniah Williams led the way when she went three-for-four at the plate with two runs scored and two runs batted in (RBI). She also included a double.
 
Claflin senior Jaelyn Jackson (7-7) took the pitching win. She started the game and she finished the game with one run allowed (none earned) on three hits. She also recorded four strikeouts.
 
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 19-21 overall. For the third straight season, the Lady Panthers will meet the Bowie State Bulldogs in the championship round of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament. The two teams are set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
