SANTEE, SC - For the fourth straight year, the Claflin University Department of Athletics hosted the annual PAWSUp Golf Classic and the event continued to be a tremendous success. Held at the Lake Marion Golf Course in Santee, South Carolina, the 18-hole tournament turned out to be another spectacular event.
 
Not only did the tournament offer great day of fun on the course, there was also some great competitive play. The tournament was a tough one with 20 teams competing in two flights seeking the top spots. The second flight saw the most competitive play with three teams tying for a top team score of 65. The team of Randy Coleman, Audrey Harper, Tommy Hughes, and Brady Holmes won the flight by virtue of a hardest hole playoff. There was less drama in the first flight with the team of Ben Coates, Maxi Coleman, Vince Coates, and Chris Coates all taking the top team score of 55.
 
In addition to the team champions, several individual awards were claimed as well. Dale Gibson won the men's longest drive title while Reverand Shirley Canty won the women's longest drive and closest to the pin titles. Mike Mosely won the men's closest to the pin and Joe Canty claimed the senior men's closest to the pin title.
 
The event was capped by lunch provided by Georgianna's Kitchen, a division of Berry Enterprises.
