As a team, the Panthers put on one of their best performances of the season. The team shot a smoking hot 51.6% (32-of-62) from the floor, including hitting 17 three pointers. As usual, the Panthers mounted a balanced attack that featured four players in double-digit scoring. Claflin senior guard
Jailen Williams led the way with 14 points and three rebounds while senior forwards
Zion Obanla and
John Whitehead, III, each added 12 points. Junior guard
Michael Shuler added 11 points. Senior forward
HowVante Hutcherson and Obanla each totaled seven rebounds to lead the Panthers.
Claflin dominated the game from the early minutes and went ahead by as many as 37 points in the final minutes of the game before closing out the win.
The win snaps a two-game skid by the Panthers. The team will return home for their next competition when they host the Fayetteville State Broncos in the 2025 PAWS Up HBCU Classic. The game will be televised nationally on The Grio network.
