Tubbs-Matthews Named to CIAA Presason All-Conference Team
CHARLOTTE, NC - Claflin junior guard
Xavier Tubbs-Matthews was named to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Preseason All-Conference Team. The announcement was made at the 2025 CIAA Basketball Media Day, Tuesday morning.
Tubbs-Matthews, a transfer from Elizabeth City State University, brought the preseason honor after a terrific sophomore season of play. Last season, Tubbs-Matthews led the Vikings with 331 total points while averaging 13.2 points per game. He reached double-digit scoring in 16 games last season, including scoring a career-high 30 points in a road win over the Mount Olive Trojans. He also had a 29-point effort at Barton. In total, he had six games scoring at least 20 points for the Panthers.
The Claflin Panthers will open the 2025-26 season on the road when they take on the Glenville State Pioneers in the Earl Lloyd Classic hosted by West Virginia State University.
