ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Panthers (16-9, 9-5 CIAA) clicked on all cylinders to claim a 94-80 win over the Shaw Bears (11-13, 6-7 CIAA). The Panthers combined a smoking hot shooting performance with some quality defense on their way to the win.
The Panthers' defense was especially impressive in the game, but it was combined with some great offense. Claflin held Shaw to shooting just 41.0% (25of-61) from the floor while shooting a smoking hot 50.8% (31-of-61) from the floor. Claflin senior forward
Zion Obanla led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds in the game. He also added a pair of steals. Junior guard
Cristian Sanon added 16 points as well, hitting four three-pointers in the game as well.
With the win, the Panthers keep their three-game winning streak alive and improve to 16-9 overall and 9-5 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action next Wednesday when the team heads to Fayetteville, North Carolina to take on the Fayetteville State Broncos.
