Pantthers Claim Third Straight CIAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - For the third season in a row, the Claflin Panthers claimed the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship. The Panthers dominated the field to claim the win, totaling 138.5 points, 14.5 points ahead of second place Virginia Union.
The Panthers put on some dominant performances to claim the championship. Claflin junior sprinter
Jonathan Flemister led the way with 18 total points at the meet. He took first place in the men's 60m dash with a 6.84 while also adding a second-place finish in the men's 200m dash with a 21.79. The Panthers were also dominant in the men's 800m run with senior
Zion Murry taking first place with a 1:55.90 and junior
Reginald Gore adding a second-place finish with a 1:56.06. Claflin junior
Jaevon Riley also won the men's 400m run with a 48.70. Senior
DaMauri Little added a second-place finish in the men's mile run when he recorded a 4:28.95. The Panthers also took the top spot in the men's distance medley relay with a 10:29.20.
In field events, senior
Jocolbi Morgan led the way, placing third in the men's long jump with a 22'10.5" (6.97m) mark and a fifth-place finish in the men's triple jump with a 46'7.25" (14.20m).
After securing their third straight CIAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship, the Panthers will turn their attentions to qualifying for the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. Currently, the Panthers have five individual provisional qualifiers and one qualified relay team.
