ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Panthers (5-17-1, 0-9 PBC) closed out their weekend series against the Augusta Jaguars (8-19, 5-7 PBC) with a great effort in a 13-3 loss, Saturday afternoon. The Panthers gave another great hitting effort, but the team was not able to keep up with the Jaguars.
As a team, the Panthers had another great day at the plate. The team totaled 10 hits in the game. Claflin senior
Kimon Quarles continued his hot streak with a three-for-five effort at the plate with a triple, a run scored, and a run batted in (RBI). Sophomore
Christian Hill added a two-for-four batting effort with a run scored.
Claflin freshman
Travyon Taylor (1-1) started the game and took the pitching loss. He finished the game with two strikeouts in four innings. Fellow freshman
Nathan Young added a pair of innings with two strikeouts as did junior
Elijah Bonner.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 5-17-1 overall and 0-9 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play. The Panthers will return to action, Tuesday afternoon, when the team hosts the Savannah State Tigers at Historic Mirmow Field.
