Jefferies, Lee, and Sample Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

ORANGEBURG, SC - While Claflin Lady Panthers are known for their efforts on the basketball court, a pair of Panthers were honored for their efforts in the classroom, Tuesday, when graduate guard Janelle Sample and senior guards Myla Lee and Jasmyn Jefferies were named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
 
The CSC Academic All-District team recognizes the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The team recognizes student-athletes who are at least sophomores and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale and compete in at least 90% of the institution's games played or must start in 66% of the institution's games.
 
Sample earned her spot after finishing the season as one of the top performers on the team. She started in 25 of the Lady Panthers' 26 games and she finished the season as the Lady Panthers' second leading scorer. For the season, she finished with 249 total points for the Lady Panthers and she averaged 10.0 points per game. She also added 26 assists with 19 steals. She scored a season-high 24 points in a win over the rival Benedict Tigers.
 
Jefferies earned her spot on the team with some great play as well. When the season ended, she was one of just two Lady Panthers to start in all 26 games. She also finished the season, leading the team and ranking fourth in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) with 83 total assists. Her best scoring game came in the season-opener at Lynn when she scored 13 points. She also had a season-high nine assists at Benedict.
 
Lee added a great season of her own for the Lady Panthers. She also played in all 26 games with one start. When the season ended, she totaled 88 points with 44 total rebounds. She also added 20 assists for the team. Her best game came at Morris when she totaled seven points with five rebounds.
