TIGERVILLE, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (7-2) got the new year started in a big way when the team jumped out early and held off the North Greenville Trailblazers (6-6) to claim a 79-75 win, Monday afternoon. The Lady Panthers took the win behind a dynamic offense performance in the victory.
 
As a team, the Lady Panthers put on a great effort at both ends of the court. Offensively, the Lady Panthers dominated the game. The team shot a scorching hot 54.0% (27-of-50) from the floor while holding the Trailblazers to shooting 42.9% (27-of063) on their home court. Claflin senior forward Ashari Lewis powered the Lady Panthers to the win with a career-high 32 points in the game. She also added a pair of blocks and a steal. Sophomore guard Mia Lewis added a career-high 22 points in the game with three assists.
 
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 7-2 overall. The team will return to Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play on Thursday when they host the Bowie State Bulldogs in a 5:30 p.m. game.
