MONTOGOMERY, AL - The Claflin Lady Panthers (5-5) put on a strong defensive game, but the team could not get the runs they needed across the plate in a 10-2 loss to the rival South Carolina State Bulldogs (3-6), Sunday at the HBCU Softball Classic. The Lady Panthers played the entire game without an error, but the team could not get their offense going.
The Lady Panthers finished the game with a pair of runs scored despite getting just four hits in the game. Claflin junior outfielder
Lauryn Foster went two-for-three hits in the game with a run scored and a run batted in (RBI). Junior short stop
Cydney Cooper went one-for-three with a run scored.

Sydra Pendleton (0-1) got the start. She threw 3.2 innings for the team. She finished the game with a strikeout. Freshman
Shantia Haymer added 1/3 of an inning of pitching as well.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 5-5. The team will close out the HBCU Softball Classic later in the afternoon in a game against the Jackson State Tigers.
