ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Panthers (12-9, 9-3 CIAA) put on a great effort, but the team fell just short in an 81-79 loss to the Shaw Bears (14-7, 6-6 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Panthers and Bears played a terrific game before the Panthers came up just short in the tough loss.
The loss came despite a great effort by the Panthers. The team shot an impressive 47.4% (27-of-57) from the field in the game, including hitting 12 three-pointers. Claflin junior guar
Cristian Sanon added 18 points with five rebounds and a steal. Junior guard
Braylon Jackson added 14 points with five rebounds. Claflin sophomore forward
Alex Atkinson added a near double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds and a steal.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 12-9 overall and 9-3 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will host the Benedict Tigers on Tuesday night.
