COVINGTON, GA - The Claflin Lady Panthers (4-1) got one of their biggest games in school history when the team took a 12-9 win over the South Carolina State Bulldogs (0-4), Saturday, at the HBCU Collegiate Softball Invitational. The Lady Panthers put on a powerful hitting and followed the effort with some terrific defense to claim the win.
As a team, the Lady Panthers put on one of their best hitting performances of the season. The team recorded 13 hits in the game. Claflin junior outfielder
Lauryn Foster led the way for the team, going four-for-five with a home run and a double with two runs scored and three runs batted in (RBI). Senior
Aniyah Jackson added a pair of hits, including a double with a run scored and an RBI.

Katelynn Grissom (2-1) secured the pitching win. She came into the game for four innings and she finished with just five runs allowed (four earned) and no walks. Claflin freshman
Shantia Haymer got the start and she threw four innings with just four runs allowed (four earned).
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 4-1 to start the season. The team will return to action later in the day when they take on the Bowie State Bulldogs.
