ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (6-7) put up a great effort, but the team came up just short in a 7-6 loss to the Coker Cobras (8-10), Thursday afternoon. Both teams put on some strong hitting efforts in the game, but the Lady Panthers could not hold off a late surge from the Cobras.
The Lady Panthers and Cobras both put on some strong hitting efforts in the game. The two teams combined for 21 hits. Claflin finished the game with 11 total hits while allowing 10 hits to the Cobras. Claflin junior
Michaela Cromarty led the way with a two-for-four batting effort with a triple and two runs scored. Senior second base
Aniyah Jackson added a two-for-three batting effort with a triple, a run scored, and a run batted in (RBI).
Claflin freshman
Shantia Haymer (1-2) got the start and she finished the game with no earned runs allowed. Senior
Katelynn Grissom came into the game for 5.1 innings and she allowed just three runs (three earned).
With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 6-7. The team will return to the diamond, tomorrow, when they host the Anderson Trojans.
