ORANGEBURG, SC - The Claflin Lady Panthers (6-6) played some clutch defense to get a 5-2 win over the Coker Cobras (7-10), Thursday afternoon. Though the Lady Panthers allowed seven Coker hits, the team held their opponents to just two runs in the win.
The Lady Panthers opened the game with a fast start, scoring three first inning runs and adding two more fourth-inning runs to seal the win.
In addition to some clutch defense, the Lady Panthers also had a strong day at the plate. The team finished the game with five hits. Five different Lady Panthers recorded one hit each during the game. Highlighting the outing was junior outfielder
Lauryn Foster who went one-for-two at the plate with a run scored and two runs batted in (RBI). Junior third base
Morgan Tate added a one-for-two effort with a run scored an one RBI.
Claflin junior
Sydra Pendleton (5-3) got the start and she took the pitching win. She threw 6.1 innings and she finished the game with three strikeouts.
