Eight Lady Panthers Named to USTFCCCA All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, LA - After putting on some great performances throughout the outdoor track & field season, the honors came in for the Claflin Lady Panthers. On Tuesday, eight Claflin student-athletes were named to the 2026 United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region Team.
 
The USTFCCCA All-Region Team recognizes the top five individuals and the top three relay teams in the student-athletes' respective regions.
 
Seven Lady Panthers earned all-region honors in individual events. Sophomore Morgan Coverson-Springs led the way when she earned honors in three individual events. She led the region in the women's 100m hurdles with a 13.43 at the Tennessee Invite. She is also ranked first in the region in the women's 400m hurdles after running a 58.78 at the Johnson C. Smith University Collegiate Invitational. She also earned a spot in the women's 200m dash with a 23.94 at the Black & Gold Challenge hosted by the University of Central Florida.
 
Coverson-Springs wasn't the only Lady Panther to earn recognition in multiple events. Junior Obiageli Akubude earned a spot in the 100m hurdles, ranking third in the region in the 100m hurdles and third in the women's 400m hurdles. Junior Latrice Brown ranked third in the region in the women's 100m dash and in the women's 200m dash.
 
Three more Lady Panthers earned spots for ranking in individual events. Junior jumper Jhnyia Knuckles leads the region in the women's triple jump. Sophomore Brea Childs is ranked second in the region in the women's 400m dash while freshman DaMya Scott is ranked fourth in the women's 100m hurdles. Junior Sydnee Wilson ranked fifth in the women's 200m dash.
 
Members of the Lady Panthers' 4x100m relay team leads the region as well and earned a spot on the team. In addition to Coverson-Springs, Childs, and Brown, Claflin junior Jadah Rasool earned a spot on the all-region team as well.
 
With the regional honors in tow, the Lady Panthers will turn their attentions to the national with several team members set to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet.
