Nathan Caldwell enters his second season as an assistant baseball coach at Claflin University, bringing extensive playing and coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, and youth levels to the Panthers’ program.

Before joining the Panthers, Caldwell served as the Head Coach at Westwood High School. Under his leadership, Westwood secured the first playoff victory in program history. He also joined Team Elite, a premier baseball development and exposure program, further expanding his experience in player development and recruiting.

After returning to South Carolina, Caldwell joined the Ridge View High School baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Caldwell later relocated to Florida, where he continued to expand his coaching experience at multiple levels. His coaching stops included Hit Factory Baseball Academy, Spoto High School, and Tampa Catholic High School, where he worked with student-athletes in both player development and competitive environments.

Following his playing career, Caldwell transitioned into coaching at Benedict College, where he served as an assistant coach for three seasons. During his tenure, the program captured the SIAC College Division Championship and led the nation in stolen bases, highlighting Caldwell’s emphasis on aggressive, disciplined, and fundamentally sound baseball.

Caldwell began his baseball career at Brookland-Cayce High School, where he graduated in 2005 after earning three varsity letters. He continued his playing career at Benedict College, where he started for four years. During his collegiate career, Caldwell earned Rawlings Preseason All-American honors and was selected to compete for the Columbia Blowfish during his junior season.

Now at Claflin, Caldwell is focused on helping build the foundation and continued success of the Panthers’ baseball program. His diverse coaching background and experience as both a collegiate player and coach provide valuable perspective as he works with student-athletes on and off the field.

A native of West Columbia, South Carolina, Caldwell and his wife are the proud parents of two sons, Nathan and Adrian.
