Trinese Fox enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Claflin University women’s basketball program. Fox is no stranger to the Orangeburg, SC area, having played her collegiate basketball at neighboring South Carolina State University (SC State).
Fox comes to Claflin after spending the last two seasons in Newport News, Va. as an assistant with the Christopher Newport University (CNU) women’s basketball staff. She joined the CNU sideline during the 2015-16 season and, a year later in 2016-17, helped lead the Captains to the NCAA DIII National Semifinals.
Before entering the coaching ranks, Fox had a four-year playing career with the SC State Lady Bulldogs. Playing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Fox was an All-Conference player once and earned the team's Defensive Player of the Year honors once.
Fox moved from the court to the sidelines following her senior year, serving as an assistant coach at Lenoir Community College for the 2013-14 season. She assisted with daily practices, developed physical fitness, and implemented a team strength & conditioning program. From there, she went to the Hampton Roads area to take an assistant coaching position at her alma mater, Nansemond River HS, in Suffolk, Va. In two years with the Warriors, Fox helped produce a pair of first-team All-Conference forwards and a 17-win season in 2015-16.
Fox was a four-time MEAC All-Academic selection for the Lady Bulldogs and graduated with a degree in Physical Education and Activity Management in 2013.
