Biography
2023-24: Nya returned for a great 2023-24 season. She started in 27 of the team’s 28 games. She finished the season with 417 total points, and she averaged 15.4 points per game. She also added 181 rebounds with 88 steals and 73 assists. She reached double-digit scoring in 20 of her game started. Her best game came at Elizabeth City State when she scored a career-high 36 points to lead the Lady Panthers to a 78-51 road win. She also completed the double-double with 10 rebounds in the game. She pulled in a season-high 13 rebounds against Fayetteville State
2022-23: Nya stepped into a leading role for the Lady Panthers right away last season. She finished the season as the team’s leading scorer, totaling 314 points, and averaging 12.1 points per game. She is one of the two Lady Panthers to start each game of the 2022-23 season. Her best game of the season came on the road against the rival Benedict Lady Tigers where she scored a career-high 21 points with 11 rebounds. She finished the season ranked 12th in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in scoring. She was also ninth in the conference with 52 steals.
Personal: Nya joined the Lady Panthers in the fall of 2022. She came to Claflin University after a terrific pair of seasons at Lackawanna College. She was a second team NJCAA DII All-American, and she has her jersey displayed in the Ring of Honor. During her career at Lackawanna, she was named the Region XIX DII Player of the Year. She also earned first team all-conference honors. She finished the previous season averaging 20.5 points per game with 6.6 rebounds per game. She is a graduate of Woodland Hills High School. She is a Sports Management major, and she is the daughter of Nicole Morris.
