2023: Mya had a solid start to her career as a Lady Panther. She played in 15 of the team’s 23 matches with three starts. She finished the season with 40 kills with two assists. Defensively, she recorded 21 digs with 10 total blocks (none solo). She had a career-high 10 kills against Livingstone.
 
Personal: Mya joined the Lady Panthers in the fall of 2023. She came to Claflin University as a graduate of Spring Valley High School where she had a great athletic and academic career. She was a two-time MVP for her high school team, and she was named the Maxspeed Player of the Month during her career. She also earned Best Offensive Player and Best All-Around Player honors on her team as well. In addition to competing in volleyball, she was also a member of the basketball, volleyball, and soccer teams. Her accomplishments extended beyond athletics. She participated in ROTC and she was a Double-CATE Completer. She also earned spots on the A Honor Roll, the A/B Honor Roll, the National Honor Society, the Kitty Hawk Society, and she is a LIFE Scholar. She is a Biology major and she is the daughter of Sharon Sumpter.
