Claflin Host Augusta University in Non-Conference Men’s Basketball Contest

Orangeburg, S.C.—After opening the 2015-16 with a road win over Millersville University on Saturday (Nov. 14), the Claflin University men's basketball return to Tullis Arena to host Augusta University (formerly GRU) in its 2015-16 home-opener. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18. Live Stats and pay-per-view live streaming will be available via the Claflin University athletics website. Junior Patrell Rogers hit the second-of-two free-throws with one second remaining to give the Claflin (1-0) the 66-65 victory of Millersville. Junior Trevor Dantzler led three Claflin players in double-figures with 14. Senior Adolph "AJ" Caldwell and freshman Triston Thompson dropped in 13 points apiece for the Panthers. Senior Karee Watson and red-shirt freshman was solid on the boards for Claflin pulling in nine and seven, respectively.

This will be the season-opener for Augusta University. Last season, the Jaguars finished with a 23-7 overall record. Keshun Sherrill, who averaged 18.7 points a year ago, is the top returnee for Augusta University.

The Panthers will host The College of the Bahamas in its homecoming game this Saturday, Nov. 21 at 3:30 p.m. before returning to the road for its next six contests.
