Claflin Routs the College of the Bahamas in Homecoming Game

Orangeburg, S.C. – The Claflin University Panthers remained unbeaten on the season Saturday with a 78-57 win over the College of the Bahamas for homecoming at the Tullis Arena.  The win is the third straight for the Panthers to open the season.
 
In racking up their largest output of the season, 12 Panthers hit the scoring column led by Adolph Caldwell with 16 points.  Trevor Dantzler followed with 11, all coming in the first half. He also knocked down three three-pointers.  De'shon Nail came off the bench to score nine points and Karee Watson added eight.
 
The College of the Bahamas was led by Justin smith with a game-high 19 points. Kemsy Sylvestre and Anthony Sands added 11 points each.
 
The Panthers led 21-7 at the eight-minute mark of the first half. The margin was increased to 39-22 at the intermission as Claflin outscored the College of the Bahamas 18-15.
 
The first half saw the Panthers shoot a sizzling 54 percent from the field.  In the half Caldwell and Trevor Dantzler combined for 23 points in the half.
 
Claflin finished the game, shooting 49 percent from the field.  The Panthers defense held the College of the Bahamas in check with just seven field goals in the opening period and 35 percent for the game.
 
The second half was a much closer with Claflin holding a 39-25 advantages in the scoring department.
 
The Panthers will return to action Monday, visiting CIAA foe Fayetteville State in Fayetteville, N.C.
