Claflin Falls to Stillman in Second Round of the 2015 SIAC Baseball Tournament

Columbia, S.C. – Stillman College defeated Claflin University 6-5 in the second round of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball tournament Friday at Capital City Stadium.
 
Stillman took the early 0-1 advantage as they scored one run in the bottom of the first.  Claflin responded quickly putting up one run in the third and fourth and two runs in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.  The Tigers put up three runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 4-all.  Jesse Minter tripled to right field and subsequently scored off a sacrifice fly by Johnny Stevenson to break the tie and put the Panthers up by one, 5-4, in the top of the sixth.  Stillman put up two runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead, 5-6, for good.
 
Claflin was led in the game by Jabari Brown with a two-home runs.  The Panthers had balanced scoring as Reginald Rogers, Rashad Bivens, Jesse Minter and Ronnie Cannon all scored one run a piece.  Justin Vreeland took the loss for Claflin.
 
Claflin will face Miles College Saturday, Apr. 25, at 9 a.m. in the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament. If the Panthers are successful, they will play a second game at 6 p.m.
