Claflin Falls to Kentucky Wesleyan College in Baseball Doubleheader

Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University baseball team fell to Kentucky Wesleyan College, 10-5 and 13-0, in a NCAA Division II non-conference baseball double-header Saturday at the Historic Mirmow Field.  The loss drops Claflin to 4-3 on the season.  The sweep improves Kentucky Wesleyan to 6-4 for the season.
 
In Game One, Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) scored in four of seven innings played. KWC put up three runs in the first, second and fifth innings and one in the sixth, en route to its 10 runs.
 
Claflin scored one run in the first, two in the second and two in the seventh for its five runs. 
 
Jesse Minter, Reginal Rogers, Wendell Ferguson, and Rashad Hilton all had two hits in Fame One for the Panthers.  Minter, Rogers, Rashad Bivens, Johnny Stevenson and Ferguson all crossed the plate once to make up the five runs for Claflin.
 
Jeremy Cine was the top offensive producer in Game One for KWC.
 
Andrew Moralez was credited with the win while Lyndale Morley was the losing pitcher of record in Game One.
 
Game Two belonged to KWC as they scored in all but one inning to the game.  KWC put up three runs in the first, one in the second, four in the third, two in each of the fourth and fifth and one in the seventh en route to its 13 run shutout.
 
Jabari Brown had two of the Panthers' three hits in Game Two.
 
Evan Mohr pitched 4.1 innings to pick up the Game Two win while Elijah McKinnis was the losing pitcher of record.
 
The two teams will square off in a nine inning contest tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at Historic Mirmow Field.
