Claflin Falls to Kentucky Wesleyan in Final Game of Weekend Baseball Series

Orangeburg, S.C.—The Claflin University baseball team fell to Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC), 8-2, in the final game of a three game non-conference series.  The loss drops the Panthers to 4-14 on the season.
 
KWC improves to 6-4 on the season.
 
Claflin scored the first run of the game as Johnny Stevenson drew a RBI walk to score Rashad Hilton in the bottom of the first.
 
The score remained 1-0 Panthers over the next two innings.  Troy Paris homered in the top of the fourth and Cody Bridges hit an RBI double in the top of the fifth to push KWC ahead 2-1 heading into the middle of the fifth.  KWC scored one run in each of the seventh and eighth to push its lead to 4-1. 
 
Rashad Bivens led off the bottom of the eight with a triple and scored off a groundout by Johnny Stevenson to pull with two, 4-2. 
 
KWC had a breakout four run ninth inning and held the Panthers scoreless in its half of the ninth en route to its 8-2 victory to secure the three-game sweep.
 
Bivens paced Claflin with one run off two hits.  Paris had two runs off two hits with three RBI's to lead KWC.
 
Claflin will return to action on Tuesday, March 1 when they travel to Savannah, Ga. to face Armstrong State University in a non-conference game.
