Claflin Travels to Atlanta to Face Clark-Atlanta in a SIAC Men’s Basketball Contest

Orangeburg, S.C. — The Claflin University men's basketball team will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to take on Clark Atlanta University in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division contest, Thursday, Feb. 4. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at Epps Gymnasium on the campus of Clark Atlanta University.

In their last outing, Claflin defeated the Benedict, who was ranked 6^th in the Men's Basketball Division II Media Poll sponsored by D2SIDA, 77-70 in overtime. Patrell Rogers scored a game-high 18 points while Adolph Caldwell and Trevor Dantzler came off the bench to score 15 and 14, respectively. Austin Lawton, this week SIAC Newcomer of the Week, recorded a double-double, 13 points-12 rebounds for the Panthers who enters the game with a .500 record at 10-10 overall and 6-6 in the SIAC.

Rogers and Caldwell continues to average in double-figures at 15.5 and 11.0, respectively. Ryan McNeill-Moses, this week SIAC Player of the Week, is averaging eight points and 6.4 rebounds per outing.

Clark Atlanta brings a 5-15 overall and 3-8 SIAC bill into Thursday's contest. In their last outing (Tuesday, Feb. 2), Clark Atlanta defeated Paine College 87-78. Damien Enoch paced Clark Atlanta with 27 points-10 rebounds. Tim Sanders contributed 16 in the win

Sanders and Enoch are averaging double-figures for Clark Atlanta at 13.1 and 11.5 points per game, respectively. Enoch is leading the team in rebounding at 6.9 boards per contest.

Claflin teams will return home on Monday, Feb. 8 when they host Paine College in a SIAC contest. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Tullis Arena. It will be Maroon and Orange spirit night. All fans are encouraged to wear Maroon, Orange, or a combination of the two.
